I've previously mentioned buying things from Amazon, the reason for that is mainly because of their collection lockers
At the time of writing this post, it's not common knowledge that I'm transgender. I haven't told my parents which makes getting things delivered is difficult, especially when I'm still living at home. What I've come to realise from ordering from Amazon is that if I buy something that is fulfilled and delivered by themselves, the box that the item comes in is a standard generic Amazon box which gives no clues as to what's inside. You may be thinking "Great, so what's the problem?" Two things:
Maybe these two issues are me worrying too much, but non the less these are the reasons why I use the Amazon lockers. If you're not aware what an Amazon locker is, it's a "secure, self-service kiosks where you can pick up Amazon parcels at a time and place that is convenient for you" according to Amazon.
These lockers are a godsend to me! I can use my name, pick up what I've bought and sneak it into my room with no questions asked. Incredibly useful, especially for the more... err... sensitive stuff.
Not all items on Amazon can be delivered to a locker, normally these are the lower cost marketplace listings which I have bought from in the past. What I didn't know is that the packaging wasn't as generic as the standard Amazon box, and that one of the items came with a customs declaration sticker on it, which rather inconveniently stated "Women's Blouse" and the delivery name I used was my old one. Luckily no one noticed.
The thing is, there's a specific product I'm looking to buy which is really easy to find on eBay, but I can't get it delivered to a locker from Amazon and I really dread to think what the customs sticker may say if I get it delivered to my home. I might need to ask a friend if I can send it to their house instead.
Logistics eh?
If I don't post anything later this month. Happy Pride!
